What is Argan Oil?
Argan oil is made from the edible part of the nuts inside the shell of Argan fruit. Argan tree also called ( Argania Spinosa ) found and grow only in Morocco is millions of years old tree. It has gained importance in recent decades throughout the world because of its medical benefits and extracted oil. Argan oil is increasingly coming under notice of outside world due to its manifold usage both for dietary and cosmetic purposes. However, its cosmetic use has gained solid grounds very quickly. It is because of its potential uses that a great interest is taken recently for the preservation of fast vanishing Argan trees, so the Moroccan Government opened many nursing of Argan trees or Argania Spinosa.
Types of Argan Oil:
There are two types of Argan Oil: Cosmetic Argan Oil which is used for cosmetic and medical purposes and edible or Culinary Argan Oil is used to make AMLOU and in the kitchen. The different between them is that the Cosmetic Argan oil is made from the raw Argan nuts without roasting them while the edible Argan Oil made from the Argan nuts after the roasting. Cosmetic Argan oil has a light aroma smell while edible Argan Oil has strong nutty smell, the colors are also different. Cosmetic is Yellow while Edible is red.
Cosmetic Argan Oil (IF YOU CAN’T EAT IT ,DON’T PUT IT ON YOUR SKIN):
Cosmetic Argan oil plays the role of food for the skin. With so much benefits that the European Cosmetic Industry called it the “LIQUID GOLD”, Miraculous and anti-aging oil. There is no other product available in the market that has so much cosmetic benefits such as Agran oil for health, cuisine, skin, hair and nails. Berber women have been using it in Morocco as a beauty tool. It is an established scientific fact that certain nutrients help to protect human skin against environmental damage and other aging factors. Cosmetic Argan oil has some nutrients in it that are recognized as very beneficial for curing different kind of marks on skin which might be claimed by many other products but Argan oil do it very quickly and with no side effects because it is something you can eat and therefore, it will not harm you (if you can’t eat it don’t put it on your skin). Moreover, it prevents the skin from premature aging symptoms like wrinkles and crow’s feet and ability to restore the natural freshness and tightness of skin. For pregnant women it helps remove the stretch marks and wrinkles after pregnancy. Due to its highly diffusible nature it easily penetrates into the hair follicles and strengthens these from their roots. It also cures the split ends of hair by ensuring properly nourishing and increase circulation to the hair follicles.
Edible Argan Oil:
The culinary or edible Argan oil is developed to be used in food as well as a dip for bread. It has a high nutty ascent and smells like peanut butter. Roasting of the Argan oil gives it a distinct flavor and this flavor depends on high the nuts are roasted which is appealing and highly nutritious. Culinary Argan oil should be placed on food such as fish and vegetables but it should not be warmed. It should preferably be kept cold so as to retain its flavor and stored in dark area.
The culinary Argan oil has many health benefits such as it can regulate the body’s blood cholesterol which is based on research that has been conducted. It is also able to aid in the generation of prostaglandins which is highly beneficial with people who suffer from heart problems.
The culinary Argan oil also has a high level of vitamin E which is an excellent anti-oxidant agent. Also it contains a high level of fatty acids which are used to improve the body’s resistance to common ailments and improve heart functions.
Argan Oil's ancient history:
Argan oil is beautiful golden oil with a slightly reddish tinge, which comes from the Argan Tree of Morocco. For centuries, the Berber people of Morocco have used the oil for its numerous culinary, cosmetic and medicinal benefits. The Argan tree is under the protection of UNESCO due to its dwindling numbers and difficult growing conditions. Argan is one of the rarest and expensive oils in the world because of its limited quantity and traditional production methods. For this reason it is often referred to it as Liquid Gold.
Composition of Argan Oil:
Argan Oil contains fatty acids up to four fifths. It contains Vitamin E, lipid compounds derived from fatty acids, carotenoids, polyphenoles, acids and antioxidants. All these compounds have different characteristics and are useful individually in a unique way. They are useful in many ways from the reparation of DNA to protection from Ultra Violet radiation, and reducing stretch marks and wrinkles.Argan Oil Composition and Function:Argan Oil contains a high level of essential fatty acids, including linoleic acid. Fatty acids are beneficial for nourishment and protection of the skin and hair. They protect and repair the skin and hair. Argan is also very high in Vitamin E, one of the most powerful biological anti-oxidants in neutralizing free radical production. The anti-oxidants in Argan Oil is 80 times higher than the one olive oil. Vitamin E is also very potent at stabilizing the cell membranes from a process called lipid peroxidation. Therefore, it is excellent at slowing the aging process of the skin.
